Luxeuil-les-Bains

Luxeuil-les-Bains is a town of art and history, renowned for its rich heritage and its thermal waters. A popular destination for history and spa enthusiasts, it offers an experience where well-being and culture meet.

The basilica and its organ

In the heart of this historic town stands proudly the Basilique Saint-Pierre, with its organ dating from 1617, one of the oldest in Franche-Comté. The organ case, an imposing 17th-century work in oak, is supported by an atlas, testifying to the excellence of the craftsmanship of the period. Two of its parts are listed as Historic Monuments: the case and the instrumental part.

From May onwards, “Les Samedis de l’orgue” (Organ Saturdays) showcases this heritage and delights the public with a timeless experience.

From May to September, every first Saturday of the month, join us at 5pm for this free concert!

The cloister A place of tranquillity and history

The abbey’s cloister, built of pink sandstone, offers a peaceful setting steeped in history. Along with the basilica, it is the last remaining medieval feature of the monastery. This serene setting is a must-see for visitors wishing to immerse themselves in the town’s monastic past. The keystones bear the coats of arms of the abbots who helped build the monastery in the 15th century.

Rue des Balcons and the Maison du Bailli

Among the town’s remarkable heritage features, don’t miss the rue des Balcons, famous for its wrought iron or cast iron railings, a reminder of the golden age of foundries in Haute-Saône in the 19th century. This street illustrates the architectural wealth of Luxeuil-les-Bains, where each balcony tells a story.

The Maison du Bailli, with its polygonal tower and mullioned windows, is another architectural gem. This building, probably dating from the 15th century, now houses the municipal library, but it is its inner courtyard, adorned with stone and wooden balconies, that particularly captivates visitors.

Relaxing in thermal waters

With its jacuzzi, hammam and thermal pool overlooking the park, the Luxeuil-les-Bains thermal baths are the ideal setting for a romantic break for two or a relaxing moment with friends. Visitors can enjoy a host of relaxing treatments. The spa, with its 34°C whirlpool bath and 45°C hammam, offers a moment of well-being complemented by a hydromassage bed or the application of clay in a hot cushion. The beauty salon completes the experience with top-of-the-range beauty treatments.

The establishment thermal

The Luxeuil-les-Bains thermal baths are housed in an 18th-century Art Deco building, listed as a Historic Monument, which alone is well worth a visit.
