Ready for your getaway in the Vosges du Sud?

Les 1000 Etangs Between nature and mystery

In a wilderness of unspoilt nature, the Plateau des 1000 Étangs, covered in deep forests and still waters, invites you on wonderful escapades into a timeless, almost mystical world.

L’Échappée des 1000 Étangs offers visitors a sensory experience at key points in the area, with landscape breaks combining nature and heritage.

A stay between nature and heritage

From La Planche des Belles Filles…

Further north, La Planche des Belles Filles, the finish line of a legendary stage of the Tour de France, is a challenge to those who love steep slopes. All around, the forest, countryside and foothills of the Vosges mountains put trail runners, mountain bikers and horse riders to the test.

…In Luxeuil-les-Bains

Walkers can follow in the footsteps of Saint Columban, builder of Luxeuil Abbey, whose European journey from Ireland to Italy was punctuated by monastic foundations. This is how the &cclesia, Cité Patrimoine came into being. Luxeuil-les-Bains, a spa town with a remarkable heritage, sharpens the senses by offering wellness breaks.

The basilica is lulled to sleep by the baroque creations of the Musique et Mémoire festival, echoed by the notes of the Pluralies, in the cloister of the abbey.

History, know-how And traditions

Nearby Luxeuil, from spring onwards, you can admire the cherries in bloom… and follow them to the distilleries at Fougerolles (a remarkable site of taste and intangible heritage), where they are transformed into kirsch or Griottines®. A little further west, the glass and crystal works at La Rochère are a concentration of delicate, centuries-old skills. At the other end of the spectrum, the Fort du Mont-Vaudois in Héricourt displays its formidable architecture.

Water, an omnipresent element

The waterways of Lure and Champagney invite you to relax or enjoy water games. In the rivers, lakes and ponds, fishing is a passion.

Belfort and the Ballon d'Alsace

The Vosges du Sud is also a neighbouring region: in Belfort, Bartholdi’s majestic lion (22 metres long and 11 metres high) has watched over the inhabitants since 1880. At the crossroads of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Grand Est regions, the Ballon d’Alsace, the highest point in the Southern Vosges (1,247 m), offers an unforgettable 360° view.
