Cherry country

Classified as a “Site Remarquable du Goût”, Fougerolles-Saint-Valbert is renowned for its cherry-based specialities, particularly its famous kirsch. Since December 2018, “la culture de la cerise de Fougerolles” and “la distillation du Kirsch de Fougerolles” have been listed as part of France’s intangible cultural heritage, bearing witness to exceptional know-how and an enduring tradition. The Ecomusée du Pays de la Cerise and the distilleries still in operation offer the chance to learn more and taste these unique products.

Meeting with wild animals

Fougerolles-Saint-Valbert also offers unspoilt natural areas, such as its animal park. Located in the heart of the forest, this park offers a rewarding walk to meet deer, mouflons, llamas and fallow deer, providing a welcome nature break for visitors of all ages. A 5km trail leads around the park.

During the school holidays, there are activities for all the family. Our favourite activity takes place in autumn, at dusk, when the stags bellow – a fascinating natural spectacle not to be missed!

Recharge your batteries in the heart of nature

The Hermitage of Saint-Valbert is a place of serenity and mystery. Ideal for a peaceful stroll, this site is a natural and historical nugget: the saint’s grotto, converted into an underground chapel in the 17th century, and the grotto of the spring and the pavilions built in the 18th century. The “devil’s stone” and the large pool add a touch of enigma and beauty to the site. This peaceful spot is the perfect place to recharge your batteries and enjoy the peace and quiet of the surrounding countryside.

Follow the Route des Chalots

The Route des Chalots is a gourmet itinerary that offers a great opportunity to discover the region’s traditional wooden granaries. These picturesque structures bear witness to local ingenuity and agricultural tradition. Completely demountable, the chalots were set up close to farms to store crops and precious goods, thus protecting them from potential fires.

The Route des Chalots is a 120km signposted route between Haute-Saône and the Vosges, linking heritage sites, nature reserves and local producers.

Whether you’re visiting the eco-museum, learning about local history or exploring the flora and fauna of the animal park, Fougerolles-Saint-Valbert is sure to charm you. So, are you ready to explore this remarkable city of taste?
