It was the artists’ studio Les Écuries that initiated the movement in 2016 by creating the “Au pied des murs” festival. Colourful works of art blossomed in the town centre and outlying districts, giving birth to a new artistic identity for Lure.
Later, the collective La Douche Froide, created by visual artist Élise Poinsenot and graffiti artist Nove, marked a new stage in the evolution of street art in Lure. A monumental work of art adorns a wall near Lure station, featuring the faces of these two artists and Meln, “Fier à Lure” (Proud of Lure).

Together they created the M.U.R, located behind the Espace Cotin, next to the Lure Auditorium. M.U.R stands for Modulable, Urbain, Réactif, a concept that originated in Paris in the early 2000s and is now spreading like wildfire. There are already 26 walls in France, Belgium and Switzerland. Here, artists take over the public space to create an ephemeral work of art and express themselves with complete freedom.
In Lure, the artist Stom500, whose reputation extends beyond the borders of the country, is the patron of the M.U.R. and inaugurated the site by creating the very first work, a magnificent colourful fresco paying tribute to his grandfather through a number of symbolic images from his life. A few months later, Pink’Art RoZ created a work on the same wall.
