A haven of peace In a natural setting

Every element of the Acorus Water Gardens is designed to awaken your senses. The gentle murmur of water, the rustle of leaves and birdsong create a natural symphony that invites you to slow down and appreciate the moment.

As you stroll along the garden paths, you’ll discover an impressive array of over 1,000 plant species, including more than 250 aquatic species. Paths, pontoons and footbridges will guide you through a landscape where water features create a soothing atmosphere. Take the time to sit on one of the many benches dotted around the park to watch the frogs perched on the water lilies and the colourful dragonflies fluttering around the pools.

A project born of a shared passion

Created in 1992 by Olivier and Sylvie, two botanical enthusiasts, the Jardins Aquatiques d’Acorus is the result of a radical change of lifestyle. Based in the Haute-Saône region of France, they decided to transform an old pasture into a lush garden, diversifying and enriching the plant palette while preserving the natural species present. Today, the garden is a refuge for biodiversity (with the Refuge LPO label) and a place of discovery for visitors.

Explore the area at your own pace

You can enjoy a self-guided tour or opt for a guided tour (by appointment), the ideal being simply to wander around at your own pace and take full advantage of everything the site has to offer. The owners also offer services by prior arrangement, such as picnics, photo shoots and training courses in pond creation and tree pruning.

A moment out of time

The Jardins Aquatiques d’Acorus in Autoreille harmoniously combines the styles of English and Japanese gardens. In fact, as soon as you arrive, a traditional torii gate greets you. This traditional Japanese gate instantly transports you into a soothing Zen atmosphere.

As you stroll along, you’ll discover ponds adorned with water lilies in bloom, bamboo forests and pontoons with curves inspired by Japanese architecture. Japanese maples add a splash of colour, enhancing the garden’s peaceful, contemplative atmosphere.

Take advantage Every season

The garden is open from March to the end of October, and each season offers a unique experience. In spring, the bright colours of perennials and shrubs emerge, while summer is dominated by the blossoming of water lilies and lotuses. Autumn, meanwhile, offers a spectacle of colourful foliage thanks to the Japanese maples and other ornamental trees. Whatever the season, the Acorus Water Gardens promise an unforgettable visit.
