Founded in the 6th century by Saint Colomban, the abbey was in operation until the French Revolution. After housing a secondary school until 2024, it is now being reinvented as a place for culture, meetings, seminars and receptions.
Part of the abbey is currently being renovated. Full reopening planned for 2027.
