Over the centuries, this country has produced talented composers who are still renowned today. This programme takes you on a journey from Veneto to Emilia-Romagna. Plunge into the heart of the churches and courts of the time. From Venice to Bologna, via Padua, many composers left their mark on history with chamber music historically adapted by the Tumbleweeds ensemble: with violin, recorder, sackbut, theorbo, guitar and harp. "Balade Vénitienne" evokes music in the Serenissima from the 1620s to the 1680s, using historical instrumentarium and featuring the sackbut in dialogue with the violin. This is an unusual choice because the sackbut, a member of the brass family, is rarely featured as a principal instrument, as is the violin. And yet, in the 17th century, this instrument had the ability both to imitate the human voice and to rival the violin in technical terms.
