The patrimonial fund originates from the revolutionary seizures made in 1789. Most of the manuscripts and incunabula come from the religious communities of the city and its surroundings. The library contains about 25,000 volumes. Transferred to the college of the Jesuits at the beginning of the 19th century, it is then installed in the current building specially built in 1858, near the Town hall.
