Discovered in 1828, the Velleminfroy spring was very quickly renowned for its benefits. Due to its success, it was declared a "natural mineral water" by imperial decree of the Imperial Academy of Medicine, under the reign of Napoleon III in 1859. Very quickly, Velleminfroy became a renowned health resort throughout Europe in the 19th century and during the first half of the 20th century.
Due to its specific mineral composition, the water of Velleminfroy has a set of characteristics that can never be found elsewhere. Calcium and magnesium, Velleminfroy water is also a sulphate water.
The consumption of sulphated water accelerates intestinal transit, and this effect is more effective when the water is also magnesian.
