La croix Pothey - Calvaire en pierres percées

  • Religious heritage
Village de Frettes, 70600 Champlitte
The Pothey cross is a calvary made of pierced stones. Pierced stone was very fashionable in the region at the time and there were large quantities of it in the Frettes woods.
It was built by Robert and Jean Meurey in 1966. It replaces an old calvary with a cast-iron cross that was broken when a lime tree was felled in 1965. It was inaugurated on 15 August 1966 in the presence of the Bishop of Langres, Abbé Moreau de Genevrières and the then Mayor of Frettes, André Mille.
