Some houses have dwellings on cellars, which reminds us that for several centuries, Marnay was a land of vineyards.
Several narrow passages, sometimes covered, called "trajes" are also to be discovered.
Marnay decided to associate the sun, emblem of the city, with the bat, which a former lord had carved on the door of a stable in the castle. The bat, nocturnal animal and enemy of light, is supposed to ward off darkness during the night.
