Founded in 1882 and set up in the middle of the old Vesoul since 1981, the local museum exhibits fine arts and arqueology collections in a huge building from 1680 (Ursulines' convent), which conserved its original architecture. The rooms were reorganized for visitors' comfort and the presentation of works.
The local Georges Garret's museum presents on two floors fine arts (especially 19th century) and archeological (from prehistory to middle ages) collections. We'll particularly remember the painter and sculptor Jean-Léon Gérôme's orientalist works, the naturalist paintings from "L'école haut-saônoise" and Gallo-Roman mortuary stele. Groups are welcomed from Monday to Sunday by reservation.
