The heritage collection originates from revolutionary seizures carried out from 1789 onwards.
The heritage collection originated in the revolutionary seizures of 1789. Most of the manuscripts and incunabula come from religious communities in the town and surrounding area. The library contains around 25,000 volumes. Transferred to the Jesuit College at the beginning of the 19th century, it was then moved to the current building, specially constructed in 1858, next to the Town Hall. The old collection has not yet been fully computerised.
