At the Le Corbusier Chapel in Ronchamp, screening of the documentary "Le Corbusier à Chandigarh" on Friday 9 May at 6pm. Free admission
With the construction of the city of Chandigarh, the Franco-Swiss architect Le Corbusier completed his life's work 70 years ago. Chandigarh is a bold utopia of modernity, with its shadows and its lights. By accompanying four cultural actors who live in the Indian city idealised and dreamt of by Le Corbusier, this film reflects on the legacy he left behind and the cultural differences that exist between East and West. "Le Corbusier à Chandigarh - la force de l'utopie", by Swiss film-makers Karin Bucher and Thomas Karrer, provides a dense and fascinating account of the avant-garde vision developed by this genius architect in the 1950s to imagine the city of the future.
