Description
In the summer of 1971, 16-year-old Marie-Claire Chevalier became pregnant and had to have a clandestine abortion, with her mother’s support. After being reported by the child’s father, she found herself at the centre of a political trial orchestrated by Gisèle Halimi to bring about changes to the law on abortion. True to the historical account, the play recounts this struggle for women’s freedom, as well as solidarity, sisterhood and emancipation in the face of laws from a bygone era.
